The TOPS Mini ALRT has a 1.25-inch black traction coated 1095HC steel wharncliffe blade at 3 inches overall, a skeletonized handle, a cord lanyard and a black Kydex sheath.
ALRT stands for Anytime Life Rescue Tool, and the size is the entire idea. At 3 inches overall the whole knife is smaller than a house key, so it goes on a lanyard, a keyring or a pack strap and stays there. Skeletonizing cuts material out of the handle, which drops weight to almost nothing and leaves openings for a cord to pass through.
The traction coating is a rough textured finish rather than a smooth one, giving grip on a handle too small to hold conventionally. A wharncliffe runs the spine straight to a point that meets a dead-straight edge, so the tip goes exactly where it is put on a blade with very little length to spare.
